Mainly, the populations in relation to economical activities are divided into two:
1. Populations with the age under 10 years old
2. Populations with the age above 10 years old
Populations with the age above 10 years old itself is divided into two types:
1. Working ages, employed and seeking for jobs
2. Non working ages, still at school, doing house work, and other activities.
Based on the result of Susenas year 2006, populations on the age above 10 years old and included in the working ages is as big as 59,22 percent while the non working ages is as big as 40,78 percent. There are 52,53 percent of populations of 15 years old or above with employed status, seeking for job 6,70 percent, still in educational institutions 21,60 percent, taking care of house work 15,94 percents, and other activities is 3,23 percent.
Observed from populations on the age above 10 and employed, most populations of Bengkayang Regency is working in farming (69, 28 %) and business sector (9,02%). Seen from the working status, most populations on the age above 10 are mainly working on their own, assisting, and unpaid employee. Seen from the working hours, most working populations work averagely for total of 35-49 working hours.
Total of job seekers listed in the Labors Department Office during year 2006 are as much as 2.123 people. Seen from the comparison of sexes, there were 1.119 male job seekers and 1.004 female job seekers.
